The ingenuity and innovation that goes into creating a new BMW concept motorcycle never ceases to amaze us. We couldn’t be more impressed than we are with the new BMW Motorrad Concept R18. This BMW Motorrad custom bike is classic and natural, but nothing that you would expect at the same time. Let’s take a look at it to see what makes it so unique.
At first glance, you likely notice the old-style paint scheme. It features hand-painted white lines on the fuel tank and fork. That combines with the black base and stylish yellow-gold varnish on the bright lines to create a one-of-a-kind appearance. You also notice how the designers didn’t add unnecessary equipment onto the bike. It offers an unobstructed view of the exposed universal shaft, drop-shaped fuel tank, cradle frame and boxer engine. With the large spoke wheels attached, this bike also features perfect balance and a solid stance. It almost reminds us of a BMW R5.
Next, make sure you take notice of the new two-cylinder 1800cc boxer engine. It brings back images of the flat twin engines once used by BMW Motorrad from the 1960s. Then, the engineers made it even better by adding a glass bead-blasted aluminum engine block and transmission. From there, they hand-polished aluminum components to showcase the valve covers and the belt guard. Finally, take a peek at the chrome-plated universal shaft which connects the back wheel to the drive. All of this combined simply proves why BMW Motorrad excels in everything it does.
